Claeritas, strategic EU entry point.
Meet your EU CITES partner
Maya Mercelina founder of Claeritas, a small NL-based specialist helping international companies navigate CITES permits and NL/EU gateway compliance in a calm, simple structured way.
Claeritas is a small, specialized company focused on one thing: helping international businesses handle EU CITES permits and related wildlife trade compliance through the Netherlands. We sit where global trade, regulated goods and formal permit systems meet. Our role is to make that intersection more structured, more manageable and a great deal less chaotic than it usually is.
We are not a large law firm, a broad compliance consultancy or a generic customs advisor trying to cover every topic at once. Claeritas is deliberately narrow. That is part of the value. When CITES issues are business-critical, clients do not need a long menu of half-related services. They need a specialist that understands the route, the documentation pressure and the operational consequences of getting it wrong.

What “Claeritas” stands for
The name Claeritas points to clarity, and that is exactly what most companies are missing when they first run into CITES and EU wildlife trade rules. They usually know their products, their suppliers and their markets. What they do not always have is a clear operating route through the Dutch and EU side of the process. That is where we come in.
We translate between three realities: your commercial movement of goods, the formal language of CITES and EU permit requirements, and the practical expectations of authorities that need complete and coherent files. Our job is not to impress you with complexity. Our job is to help your permits move forward properly, with less confusion and better control.

Our background combines logistics, government communication and permit-heavy process thinking. That mix is useful in a field where technical accuracy and calm stakeholder handling matter just as much as knowing the rules. Claeritas grows with a remote operations team around the core permit function, but the model stays focused, specialist and controlled.

PROCES
How we work
We ask clear questions early, set practical expectations and keep communication readable for international teams. We prefer simple English, clean structure and direct next steps.
If something is uncertain, we say so. If a case is not a fit, we say that too. The aim is not to become the loudest name in trade compliance. The aim is to become the calmest and most reliable Dutch-side operating layer for international CITES trade.
